That would make sense if the doors were above the main deck, same as NWT doors.
Perhaps LST plans needed to be written in an English with a different access to accommodate all those heart-of-the-country boat builders up the rivers.
I've been grooving on the AFV Club 1/350th LST-1 class model and it's been leading me to research and read up on these neat vessels more than I had previously. I'd posted a set of Booklet of General Plans for the ships last year and have been looking them over again trying to figure out details. Virtually every door on that set of plans is noted as "N.S.T." and I can't figure out what that is short hand for. I've seen WT, NWT, "arch" before, but never NST and I'm stumped. Non Sea Tight?
