Re: Sleeping on board ship.
My rack on a Tico was port/starboard, with the head end outboard (and against the bulkhead, more or less). The salty guys all had them that way, figuring that the chance of rolling out in stormy weather was lower than a fore/aft rack. We had the straps, but they were dead in the middle and no use, really. The only time it was an issue for me was when we had a pretty good list while in port (fuel tank issues), and I was in a foot-up position of about 15 degrees for 2 weeks...
Is it better to sleep foreandaft or athwartship?
