A friend of mine told me about that
A friend of mine told me about sleeping in the junior officer's quarters aboard an Essex-class during Nam...directly under the forward catapult blast shield...which would slam down with a very loud CLANG every time a plane was launched. Guess you can learn to sleep anywhere....
Did a Tiger Cruise on the Nimitz. Slept in a fore-and-aft bottom berth next to a large steam pipe and a couple decks above the screws. Slept like a baby, except for the pooping in bed part. Didn't even notice storm until I saw smaller ship pitching like mad.
Is it better to sleep foreandaft or athwartship?
