Re: Mirage 1/400 WCM kits and parts needed
that is where kitbashing comes into play. http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=165105
Thanks, but I am really looking for their U-57 and U-556, not a U-557. They are not in stock at HLJ.
This is pretty much the same story in all on-line outlets.
I`m glad to have some company in 1/400 scale ships - I was starting to feel like the `last of the breed'.

Mirage didn't do a U-557 kit but you could use the U-570 or U571 for Paulshen's Type VIIC as it didn't have any special features and a standard single wintergarten. The trick would be finding the coat of arms of Dusseldorf for the markings.
I did find a couple of the U-57 kits online with the best price being on Hobby Link Japan; HLJ U-57 . Even better, it is the multimedia edition with the decals and photoetch. Hope this helps.
Fellow 1/400th enthusiast
I need to obtain the following to complete my collection. I have tried the usual on-line suspects and have come up short for the 2 complete kits I need. If any dealers out there have the kits I'm seeking please let me know.
As for my missing parts and decals, I have been in communication with Mirage Hobby (the original manufacturer of these WCM kits) but they have not even bothered to try and reply to me. If anyone out there has these kits kits in their stash and would like to sell them to me, please let me know. The same goes for my missing parts, decals and instruction sheet:
Parts & accessories:
U-3 Type IIA resin plaque
U-14 Type IIB resin plaque + instruction sheet
U-37 Type IXA PE + decals
U-57 Type Type IIC kit
U-556 Type VIIC Kit
