Re: Alantis Models & Revell
I recall hearding that Monogram had bought the old Aurora molds after Aurora went out of business in the 1970's. They were put on train that derailed and after they recovered them. They scrapped alot of them but Monogram never released what they kept. Even after Monogram was purchased by Revell.Becoming Revell Monogram.Nice to hear about the Forrest Sherman and Pittsburgh.
Looks as if Atlantis may have sucked up a few old Aurora molds as well. On the aircraft side I see 1 /54 S2F and the 1/96 Boeing 727. I do not recall old Revell producing an S2F and the 727 is that bigger scale Aurora used for their passenger jets. Atlantis looks like they will also be stamping out the old Revell Martin P6M Seamaster and the P3A Orion. And as far as the more obscure subjects go, the Allison turboprop is back along with the Atlas ICBM with gantry and launch pad. Now if they could only find the molds for the old Westinghouse Atomic Power Plant.
Got a message from Cybermodeler. It appears Atlantis is reissuing the elderly Revell kits.
Good news is the Forrest Sherman is back out.
