The Brits wanted to punish the Bismark for sinking the Hood by pounding her with heavy cal. shells. The battle could have ended much earlier with the use of torpedoes.
I think that everyone was impressed with the pounding the Bismark did take.
I did not know that the Rodney? made a torpedo attack.
If the Bismarks rudder was not hit, I wonder how history would have changed. Or would have the British gone crazy to bomb her on the French coast.
Which point did I miss?
I had written that avoiding to be boarded may have been the reason for the scuttling - but that it did not matter, because Dorsetshire anyway attacked with torpedoes.
You have written the same - except of the wrong statement at the start that the British were using only guns. But that corrected yourself latter by writing that Dorsetshire fired the last torpedoes...
