Why does this bother you?
The Bismarck was incapable of escape or fighting the fleet ranged against it. The ship took a terrible pounding from the British and was then scuttled by the Germans. How long it might have taken to sink on its own is a matter of pointless speculation and petty pride--with all sides having ample petty pride. In short, foolish German deployment policies and effective British responses all had roles in sinking the Bismark, as do myriad other facts. So why the angst over the issues?
I followed a link to the Bismarck book coming out in December.
In the description it says
"Battleship Bismarck has finally resolved some of the major questions such as, 'Who sank the Bismarck, the British or the Germans?'"
Why is there any doubt that the British sank the Bismarck?
To say the Germans sank the Bismarck is like saying the Americans sank the Lexington.
