Can you explain your problems with Mr. Raven's drawing of the HELENA in the Friedman book? I just looked at it and found it to be somewhat lacking in detail (like the missing bilge keels) but otherwise accurate for the ship as she appeared at a fairly late period in her active career. Is your problem with accuracy or with aesthetics? If there is ever a new edition of the book, I'm sure Alan would be happy to make any significant changes if they were to be provided (along with, of course, adequate sourcing).
Also, can you explain what a "Tribal Defense" is? I don't think Alan and I are related, but I do have some Delaware/Leni Lenape blood, according to my occasionally reliable and lamentably deceased maiden aunt. And, once again, you've failed to answer the simple but pertinent question: Have you ever published anything other than your scathing commentary on this message board? Vitriol is inexpensive in the short term but rather debilitating if exercised constantly over long periods. Please do take your meds -- and please be kind to your goat. And I think it might also help just a bit if you actually went and studied some logic; there must be an online course in the subject somewhere. And always remember that one man's Mede is another man's Persian.
...a logical fallacy, I see. Whether I--or anyone else--has published--or not--has no bearing on what I have written. I find it amusing that you keep trying to peddle that but what else have you got ? You've certainly been incredibly allergic to discussing what I did write.
You're engaged in a tribal defense of an author who has admitted to including material he can not source or substantiate, and who failed to alert his readers to the fact; you choose to overlook his repeated statements as to the veracity of the Internet, even as he uses the Internet to promote positions--such as his diatribe about HMS Dorsetshire --he poorly describes, and refuses to defend. So your position is precisely that: a tribal defense. Evidently, too, because you can't come to grip with the facts.
That is your right; if you choose to be buffaloed, who am I to interfere with your pleasure ? It's interesting that--somehow--you managed to shoehorn your dog and Trump into your argument, one being loyal and the other a liar without, actually, addressing the substance of my comments.
If I possessed your reasoning skills and tender feelings I'd pillory Raven for his drawing of USS Helena on page 209 of Friedman's US Cruiser design history....but I won't since I'm made of sterner stuff.
Your feelings were hurt; get over it and grow up, sonny. You want to challenge me about what I wrote, fine; but don't try to appeal to any number of logical fallacies to dodge your responsibilities: you can run, kid...but you can't hide.
