Aircraft radars do pose a radiation hazard. My C-141 flight manual shows a 45 foot danger zone from the dish in the radome.
During my time in the Navy we were always told to stand clear of any radar that was functioning because it put out radio waves that could ruin your chance for children later in life. The question I have is on the Independence class light carriers the SK radar mounted between the stacks seems pretty low so it could apparently send these waves over the flight deck when running. Are there any accounts as to the crews of these carriers being affected by the low mounted radar? I know... stupid question but I was just curious. Thanks.
