Let's guess; for the research / tooling / production effort for that one, there could have been a 4-stacker DD, Hunt Class Destroyer, Atlanta class CL and T-2 tanker...
...which 4 kits' plastic would weigh less than what the 1/350 Montana
does, each offer multiple boxings and sell many, many more kits than one never-built BB.

The destinies of the British Empire and the United States seem to be tied together by some god-damned things called LST's.
You could make an argument that these ships mattered more than any other ship of their size, and yet the present number of models can be counted on two fingers.
Ditto fleet oilers, which in 1942 counted for more than battleships.
