An escort destroyer isn't a destroyer escort. Who'd-uh thunk it?

There is no such designation in the US Navy as an 'escort destroyer'. The only time a destroyer would be referred to as an 'escort destroyer' is if its currently assigned duty was to escort some high value asseet. There are only 'destroyers' and 'destroyer escorts'. The US Navy designation for USS Slater is 'destroyer escort'.
