Re: Look at the Polly Scale Railroad Colors as well
Thank you Bill. This is just what I was looking for!
Enchantment Blue F414260 for 5-N
B&O Royal Blue F414269 for 20-B-1942
Tarnished Black F414140 for Grimy Black. Testors 5-D also matched this. Also in my wanderings I found Polly Scale's RML 76 Lt Gray matched 1941 5-L.
I have yet to find matches for 1943 5-L or 5-P. Working on it. I found if you were in a pinch you could use Polly Scale Intermediate Blue for Flight Deck Stain 21, Polly Scale Dark Ghost Gray for 5-H and Polly Scale French Dark Blue for 5-O. This is all to my eye and my S&S chips. Floquil did bottle same pigments under different titles. Their bad our good.
Can you post or e-mail those matches? I have lost that link or where poasted before. I purchased several recommended but need the cross reference.
A shame about Polly Scale and Testors put the final nail in the coffin with their poor mixtures.
I found perfect matches for a couple of S&S chips in Polly Scale RR colors.Yes better than Testors matches. These have to be thinned real well before use. Try there, plenty of Polly Scale RR paints out there. If you must have the small Polly Scale bottle try British Dark Sea Gray. It is still out there in limited quantities.
I hope everybody is doing well and have fun with model ship building. I have been using Polly Scale acrylic gunship gray for ship deck as well as some USAF planes, and finally I come to my last bottle. I thought the Master modeler's gunship gray is the closest substitute, but there are many out there either (eBay and Amazon). I appreciate if anyone could advise me on which brand would be the next best substitute for it. I miss the Polly Scale paint so much. Thank you so much for your input.
