Beware of rewriting history. I know the saying that history is written by the victors, but a lot of the time it is accurate. I will give an example from something near and dear to us Texans - the battle for the Alamo. For a 130 years, the story of the last battle at the Alamo as told by Susannah Dickinson, that there was no quarter and the defenders all died fighting was sacred gospel. Then, in the 1960's, a supposed "diary" shows up in some unknowns attic, and suddenly there were survivors and they were then executed and some got away, and some more guys showed up the night before and.... ect, ect, ect. Now to be fair, I've heard the diary is from the time frame of the battle, so it could be true. Dickenson said nothing about any survivors, or anyone showing up that last night, or anyone being executed. In the end, as a Texan, I believe Dickenson. At Midway, I'm going to believe the dive bomber pilots.
