Re: 1/144 DD-445...what all?
I believe the Revell Fletcher depicts here not on trials, but as she appeared shortly before and during the first part of the Guadalcanal Campaign. The kit gives you as I recall 1 twin 40mm mount intended for the bandstand between 5" mounts number 3 and 4. On trial and for a very short while afterward I think she had a 1.1 inch quad in that position. No 1.1 inch quad is included in the kit, Check with Rick Davis, but I am fairly sure that is correct as reported in the Raven book on the Fletchers. Also pretty sure she received a second 40mm twin mounted on the stern in a tear dropped shaped tub, and had only two depth charge racks at that time, the later storage racks mounted only when she received her mid war refit.
You will need PE for the railings, depth charge and K gun racks. Other than that my recommendation would be to obtain a copy of the Raven book, along with Rick Davis' "Round Bridge Fletchers". Both are a good source for what else you will need
Strong temptations exist currently, to finally begin the 1/144 Revell DD-445 Fletcher , purchased when the kit was pre-order. Yes, a while ago.
As the kit depicts DD-445 on trials, what all specific aftermarket (and who makes it?) is required to build Fletcher or a close sister either as at Guadalcanal (4-40 mm, aft and fantail) or later (6-40mm, aft and amidships)?
Strong hunch is, most urgent need is for:
* PE railings
* masthead and Mk 37 director-mount radars
* additional 40 mm twin(s) and Mk 51(s)
* additional 20mm?
* additional DC racks / DCs?
* modified DC projectors / racks?
* general PE (& resin?) ship upgrade detail parts
There may be more, but 'am humbly soliciting, from anyone who built a Pacific '42-44 round-bridge from the 1/144 Revell DD-445...
...what all did you need to buy and/or fabricate to make a decent August '42 to mid '44 representation of this important class?
