Re: Roll Call Stats and questions
This concern about the age of people in our hobby gets raised every year. I have been hanging out on Steel Navy for about 20 years. When I started I was one of the younger people, now I am one of the older. My sense is the number of people responding to the roll call has not changed much over the years. I started ship modeling as a teenager, gave it up for about 25 years for college, marriage, raising kids, etc, then got back into it in my 40's. I think I am pretty typical in that regard. So I am not too worried. There are still a lot of ship modelers out there. The manufacturers turning out all these great new kits are selling them to somebody.
Average age is 62
Only two youngsters in their 30's.
Only three in their 40's.
Do kids not build models any more?
Or do they just return to it after they have kids of their own?
Or is the hobby dying?
I'd be curious to know how the above 5 people would answer.
