Re: Sale ad on the board, shipping cost issue.
Then I guess you have your answer.
I actually did all that. I provided links to the correct information. He didn't dispute it or say he had an external box or anything like that, he just wont use it. After several exchanges in which he insisted he was right he just said OK better luck next time. I have bought properly packed models from people in his direction but even further for less than half what he wants.
He's probably putting it into another box to protect it. Then adding packing material. Cardboard weighs a lot.
Not everybody is familiar with how to pack something to save weight and still protect the contents. Also, he might be buying a box and packing material.
Or, he might be trying to make a little extra on shipping.
It's really hard to tell. You should really just talk to him and see what he's doing and discuss how you might be able to reduce costs.
With the rise in postal rates, it's getting pretty expensive shipping stuff.
There is a sale ad here which has a Trumpeter 1/350 CV-14 USS Ticonderoga. The seller is in Georgia. I am in Massachusetts. Amazon list the kit as being 3.66 lbs and the box is 31x5x5.My calculation is about $13.50 for shipping.
He is using 6 lbs and 34x7x11 for the box. He wants $33.70 for shipping. Can anyone voice an opinion on which is correct
