Re: Dorsetshire Vs Canberra
I had similar problems researching Suffolk, I had a copy of the Norman Ough plans of Dorsetshire. The hull form was changed from the Kent class which had external bulges. The turrets I think were also modified on the later subclasses / Exeter/ York.
I used a combination of Raven and Roberts man o war publication and cruisers of ww2 by the same authors. The profile morskie on HMS Kent is also Ok- reasonably accurate forms for the earlier turrets.
Hope this helps!
I ask full well prepared to duck and cover for not being more up to date on my RN Cruisers, and for askin what may wind up being a dumb question. I have come into possession of a set of plans for the Dorsetshire in her 1930 fit, how much changed for the Kent class Canberra? I get there will be some superstructure differences, but is the hull and main turrets comparable? My ultimate aim being a 1/350 build of her at her loss.
