All the major capital ship modifications done were initiated or completed before September 1939. Note that the three ships completed post 1919, HOOD and the two NELSONs, never received any major alterations. Note also that no major unit of the fleet received a major physical reconstruction after the war commenced. If the G3 and N3s had been completed itís unlikely that major changes would have been made or initated before 1939. Once war broke out, such resources needed to be used for other things, and neither the manpower or steel would have been devoted to such projects.
: Hi All
: If the British G3 and N3 capital ships had
: been completed for the Royal Navy AND served
: into WW2 , what modifications do you think
: they would have received on the back of
: experience ?
: Obviously radar and AA guns would be most
: likely but do you think they would have
: received a KGV class style block bridge
: instead of the Nelson style they would have
: been built with ?
: Any help is greatly appreciated , as I am
: about to embark on a 1/700 scale adventure
: wanting to complete G3 as if she was in
: service in WW2 ...
: Thanks in advance
