I remember the "tan" color on CV decks, 1969-71, on USS HANCOCK (CVA-19). The "tan" color was caused by dirt and other materials accumulated on the deck--it was not some mystery camouflage scheme! Such color observations are evidence of good eyesight, but reflect no first-hand experience of shipboard conditions on board active warships.
