December, 1943 USS Oberon

According to the War Diary of my father's ship, the USS Oberon (AKA-14), she suffered a split in the deck forward of the superstructure. She was enroute from Scotland to the States in convoy when a storm was encountered. There was a 20 foot long split that allowed water into forward berthing spaces.
The Oberon was a EC2-S (Federal) hull. Repairs in the Philadelphia Navy Yard took more than a month.
