Edwin P Hoyt's "U-Boats" does mention AAA successes but...

it does mention that the damage suffered by the sub, crew killed, etc, was not worth the risk. The sub almost always ended up in dire straits regardless of the AA. The allies had too many planes. Even if the boat damaged/shot down a marauding Wildcat/Avenger, etc, the sub would more than likely lose crew, damage to the boat, etc.
