Whenever I come across something like this I think back to grad assistant days. We kept a book called "Howlers," a chronical of the struggle by 18 and 19-year olds to understand the world and their place in it. The most memorable: "The McCormack raper (sic) could do the work of a hundred men."
: The Smithsonian Channel had a 6-part program
: that full of spelling and technical errors.
: My favorite error was the recollection of a
: sailor from the ARIZONA who watched the
: fatal bomb fall and then left the ship
: "as it turned over." Can we say
: OKLAHOMA? Say what?

: I just watched a documentary about the
: Guadalcanal campaign. The producers spelled
: it 'Gaudalcanal.'
