There are several different versions of a frigate based on the NSC design. BTW, in the Coast Guard nobody refers to the NSC as National Security Cutter or Legend class, we refer to them as 418's, the Hamilton class are 378's. All of our cutters are referred to by their lengths. The National Security Cutter designation came from the screwed up fleet recapitalization program known as the Deepwater Project. It is a high endurance cutter and should have continued with the WHEC hull designation instead of WMSL.
: This idea may be serious, I do not know.
: Can a Hamilton be converted to replace the
: little crappy ships? I don't know.
: Personally I wish an American Frigate
: carried some sort of torpedo & a light
: AA system, RAM or something at least; sort
: of a junior-destroyer. Also, I don't know if
: a Hamilton can carry the radar,
: communications, a CIWS, and all the other
: gear needed for the frigate mission.
