friendly reminder from a longtime ebay buyer

have been an ebay buyer for twenty years now and one almost universal problem is that sellers do not know (or want to take the time) to pack items properly for shipment. do them (and yourself) a favor and factor in the price of properly packing an item (even a kit) for shipping, e.g., most people want to be able to use the kit box once they get it to store the parts in. recently bought a kit on that site and someone wrapped up the kit box in butcher paper and sent it in the mail - the result, a crushed box with numerous holes in it from pointy corners of other people's shipping boxes. generally we are super super super nice guys that don't push the seller to refund our money (mainly because of the hassle on our end), but we've had items utterly destroyed (like a pristine china serving dish salvaged from the sunk Prinz Eugen) that we had to demand restitution for (just because some idiot wouldn't spend the $5 to do a proper packing job in the first place - h***, we'd be happy to pay the extra $5, even if they inflate it to $10, to get the item that we see in their listing show up in the same condition).
