The "weapon" superimposed above the aft gun (roughly 3-in or 4-in?), is an Anti-Aircraft Rocket Launcher System. There are two "pods" of ten rockets each covered with canvas on either side of a control cockpit. I believe it was called "PILLAR BOX".
I don't know much about these weapons, but have seen them on several UK merchant ships. As a matter of fact along with this ship, I scanned six other UK merchant ships with the same PILLAR BOX all mounted in the same location.
