The KBismarck site has line drawings of all ships at the time of the Bismarck battle. I built the Rodney by Tamiya and used the following aftermarket stuff:
1. WEM HMS Rodney PE update set
2. WEM resin Walrus flying boat set
The WEM set has the pom-poms you'll need, plus the correct plane handling crane and turret catapult.
The line drawing shows the following armament installed:
1. 2 X quad 303 machine gun mounts
2. 2 X single 20mm guns
3. 2 X octuple pom-pom mounts
4. 6 X single ha 4inch guns
5. 6 X twin 6inch gun turrets
6. 3 X triple 16inch gun turrets
For her Bismarck battle configuration, I spoke to WEM themselves and received a correction which included the addition of a single octuple pom-pom mount aft on the stern (behind the 2 X single ha guns) and the removal of the quad mg mounts.
In this photo, you can see the 20mm gun positions on top of the turret as well as a portion of the turret top catapult. Here is a photo of her superstructure quad 303 mg's.
: I am about to start a 1/700 build of HMS
: Rodney as she appeared in May, 1941. I am
: using the Tamiya kit as a starting point,
: but that kit seems to be Rodney in about
: 1941 as there is no aircraft crane, catapult
: or 2 ponders. I also have a Nelson that I
: can scavange parts from. Does anyone know
: of a good source for Rodney cir 1941?
