: It was early when the word came out.
: The westbound is being put on duty for 0630.
: The westbound...yepper... Wheeling's 213.
: Sunrise followed the announcement.
: A mix of wonderful oranges & red's.
: The sky had a slight mix of clouds.
: Another sunrise made in heaven.
: The car went down the street a short time later.
: Camera...tripod...water.
: The humidity seemed as high as the
: morning temperature.
: 30 minutes later, the car arrived at
: the new railroad.
: The walk to location was interrupted...
: Sunrise was following me up the
: right of way. And I kept looking
: back. Is there a shot here ???
: Up ahead, a high-railer was parked
: at the main track switch.
: Balfour's rail train was coming.
: One of its last trips to load CWR.
: And they needed the railroad.
: As they foul the main loading rail.
: Over my shoulder again... A rumble...
: Dark skies... Not looking good.
: Back to the car. For the umbrella.
: Down comes the rain.
: Lightning dances in the sky. The rains stop.
: And there's sunlight, again.
: ISO's are re-adjusted. 160...125...100.
: Sunlight isn't 100 percent. But its close.
: The hi-railers radio... "213 Westbound - Gladden"...
: Balfour's rail train backs in the clear.
: The hi-railer still holding the main.
: Heads in the clear. Radio's are keyed up.
: Track warrants' cancelled & re-issued west.
: Through the tree's, 213's headlight.
: He's down to a crawl.
: Making sure things upahead are safe.
: Balfour's in the clear...
: The hi-railer is in the clear.
: The main track switch - green.
: Safe railroading...a good thing.
: The 213 is coming back to life.
: 3 locomotives. The 4018 leading...
: The 304... The 108. And 55 cars going west.
: The Engineman. Satisified everyone's clear.
: Out comes the throttle.
: And again, another notch on the throttle.
: Exhaust spews out of the stacks.
: Those EMD's are doin what we like best.
: And another throttle notch...and yet
: another.
: Its tough focusing on the photograph.
: That EMD chant.
: Those General Motors workhorses.
: A wheel slip... Then another on wet rail.
: Left over by the brief shower
: minutes earlier.
: More sand and more throttle.
: A few wheel slips doesn't stop that
: throttle. Sand and more sand.
: Hor-see's - Giddy Up...
