Yesterday marked a special and historical day for the W&LE, the Montour Railroad and Rail Buffs alike. The 1st train made it's way off of the W&LE mainline at Southview and George Transfer and onto the new W&LE Westland Branch. With SD40-2s #6349 and #6382 as power, train WE954 with all ballast cars made it's way down the new branch to drop ballast. It was the first train on the old Montour Railroad since the early 1980s. I was fortunate to be there today to watch something I have only heard stories about as a kid and young man. I always pondered and wondered what it would be like watching a train on the old Montour Railroad. Today, thanks to MarkWest and The W&LE, I was able to see my first train on the old "Montour." I will post pictures and video later. Jason
