acually I think it has to do with public safety . I have worked over 50 hrs. overtime in a week with no schelduled days off . Once after having worked 8 starts and 54 hrs. OT ,not counting hotel time in limbo (thats another story) , I marked off because of exhaustion and was pulled out of service . Charged with willful disregard of company interests . Earlier in life , working as a conductor , more than once I had to go over and blow the whistle for a road crossing because the engr. fell asleep because of severe fatigue . This was before CREW ALERTERS where mandated by our Uncle Sam . Please dont blame your sour grapes on the Unions who are a working mans best friend . If we didn't have a UNION on our R.R. it would be one big A-- Kissing contest out here .
