Wow, is this off-topic.
The reason "they" send all those jobs to China and Mexico is ultimately because YOU, the American consumer demands the LOWEST PRICE. It's OUR FAULT, PEOPLE. Why do people go to Wal-Mart? Because they are cheaper. Sure, eventually it's also because there are fewer and fewer competitive options, especially in rural areas.
The failure of this whole idea of "fair wages" can't be blamed on companies. The companies have a responsibility to their shareholders to make a profit. The consumers demand cheaper prices.
As to the bailout - any bailout of the US auto industry should help the US steel industry, at least to some degree as that automotive steel has to come from somewhere.
Lastly, the environmentalists are actually gravely concerned about the dirty work in China in particular because pollution is a huge health hazard in that country. It's a vast oversimplification to say that the envirocrazies don't want that work to be here.

: The mills in the Ohio Valley are not
: getting help for a lot of reasons.
: Most go back before you were born.
: Management thought they were to big
: to fail, unions got very greedy and
: technology.
:
: You're right no one should have got
: bailed out. The auto workers cried
: the most so they got it.
:
: This environmental movement does
: want smokestack industry in this
: nation. They would prefer to have
: China or Mexico do the dirty work.
:
: In order to bring new industry here
: it is going to have to be grassroots
: meaning new from the ground up.
:
: The Ohio Valley must begin to offer
: more than just wore out mills and
: wore out philosophies.

: Not a socialist, but you sound like
: one of those Fox News supporters.
: Everyone should have a fair wage for
: the work they do. We request it and
: they send the jobs to China or
: Mexico. Government shouldn't support
: no one, not even the rich. But since
: we have these bailouts, why are the
: mills in the Ohio Valley not getting
: help? It going to affect many folks
: in the valley from the steelworkers,
: to business owners, and to those who
: work on the railroads. I've been a
: conductor/engineer for
: B&O/CSX/UP and seeing my family
: members unemployed over these
: layoffs after many years of working
: at Mingo, makes me upset. So now im
: off my soap box again and glad for
: MoveSmart.
:
: Sounds like you're a socialist.
: Without the evil rich or your
: company owners you wouldn't even
: have a stinking job. The
: Constitution says you have a right
: to pursue happiness. Wages and
: benefits are not a right you have to
: earn them. I'm a locomotive
: engineer, I could have pushed
: myself, went to college and make six
: figures like my two brothers.I'm
: making the money I am because I
: chose to. If you want a bailout
: start a business and pay ridiculous
: taxes and when the economy is down
: like it is and no one is buying your
: product. You will do whatever it
: take to stay in business. So cut the
: revolt B.S. and quit wanting the
: government to take care of you. Off
: my soap box.
