The only employee that was not a "company man" was the conductor on the coke train and he was not "quoted" as far as I had read. Ask yourself this question: Why was a road foreman of engines riding a "normal" coke train along with the crew? Was it to "silence" the everyday contract employee? The "main" character has told employees to their face when asked about news articles about how great the wle is and I quote "Don't believe everything you read!" ie. it is all b.s.
