I am entering another year as State Chairman for Wisconsin Powerlifting. That makes 9 out of the last 10 years, with Wendy having handled things for a year, a few years ago. And I must say, the Outlook for Powerlifting is Very Bright. When the Economy crashed in 2008, we saw the number of Lifters drop off a bit, as people had to choose between financial obligations and Powerlifting. Things have definitely rebounded, and the numbers of Entries we are getting at Wisconsin Meets are definitely on an Upswing.
The Entry Fees will remain unchanged in 2014. Entry Fees at 4-Lift Meets will remain at $55 in Wisconsin. The 2nd Divison at the same Meet will remain at $30, and Divisions beyond the 2nd Division will remain at $25 each. High School Lifters will continue to get a $10 Discount off their First Division at a Meet, and Youth Lifters(5-12) will continue to get a $20 Discount off their First Divison at a Meet.
In addition to the State Benchpress Meet in February, the Regional Meet in May, and the State Meet in October, Wisconsin will host the 2014 NASA Grand Nationals Meet. If we hold a Charity Meet in August, this means that there will be 5 NASA Meets in Wisconsin, in 2014. Not many other Federations offer that many Meets and that many opportunities to use your Membership Card.
We will begin offering the opportunity to purchase State Record Certificates in 2014. There will be 2 prices, one for Framed Certificates, and one for those mailed without a Frame. We will have more information on the cost in a few weeks.
Discounts. We will continue to offer many of the same Discounts we have offered in the past, such as the Early Entry Discount, the Mentoring Discount, the Gas Discount, etc. We want to encourage people to compete in the Sport of Powerlifting, which is why we try to keep it, or make it, affordable.
The 8th Annual Wisconsin Powerlifting State Banquet will be held on the Friday Night before the May Regional Meet. This is always an Outstanding Event where we recognize our Athletes of the Year for the prior year. The 2013 Nominees for the Wisconsin Athletes of the Year will be announced very shortly, and their names will be sent to the Wisconsin Executive Committe for voting. If you are traveling from out of town, you should consider getting a hotel room on Friday Night, and attending the Banquet. It is always fun.
