Personal trainer and Powerlifter, Asher Sharon of Milwaukee, competed in a 3 Lift Meet for the first time in about 10 years on Saturday, and broke 3 of IPF Gold Medalist Jim Ray's Wisconsin State Records in the process. Sharon lifted in the Milwaukee School of Engineering's(MSOE's) Power Sports Meet, which was sanctioned by the Natural Athlete Strength Association(NASA).
Asher broke Jim Ray's Power Sports curl record of 130 Lbs., by strict curling 143 Lbs. After he raw benchpressed 408 Lbs., Sharon opened with a deadlift of 468 Lbs., breaking Jim Ray's old deadlift record of 465 Lbs. Asher went on to deadlift 551 Lbs., giving him a Power Sports total of 1102 lbs., breaking Jim Ray's former total record of 1020 Lbs. He took 1st place in the Master's 1(40-49) SHW Power Sports Division, and went 9 for 9 for the day.
Brad Aldag, 19, of Sheboygan, and an engineering student at MSOE was the Meet Director. MSOE hosted the Event and provided free drinks and snacks for all of the Lifters, as well as all of the spectators.
