As the almost 3 dozen of you that attended the Annual Wisconsin Awards Banquet back in April already know, we are going to be making a change in Wisconsin in terms of our head-to-head competition, in how we conduct our Awards Ceremony. This will only apply to Wisconsin NASA Meets, but we would like you to use the Link at the bottom of this eMail to go to the Wisconsin Power Talk Forum, and comment on these proposed changes. The Wisconsin Executive Committee(6 Members) will observe your comments, and consider them in their voting/planning.
At present, with a few exceptions here and there, or from Meet to Meet, nearly everybody gets 1st Place at a Meet, because there are so many Divisions to choose from, that everybody is spread out, and so, there is little competition. For example, in our largest Wisconsin(non-National) Meet in the past 6 years, we had 79 Entries, with 3 Lifters in 2nd Place, 1 Lifter in 3rd Place, and 75 1st Place finishes. We want to make a change that will Foster Greater Competition.
At future Wisconsin Meets, you will still enter the Division for which you want to set a State Record, or American Record that you are after. That is, the Division you enter will still control where you set your Records. However, for the purposes of the Competition on any given day, you will be slotted by Weight Class into the Open(Natural) Division.
We will have an Open Division, and an Open Master's Division, which is one of the things we want you to vote and comment on, that is, at what age to make that split to Masters. By request, we will keep you in the regular Open Division, and not put you in the Open Master's Division. You will declare this at the Weigh-ins.
We are also thinking(again, just for the Awards/Competion) about combining the Equipped Powerlifting and Unequipped Powerlifting on competition day, and using the Galileo Factor to arrive at the Adjusted Coefficient for Unequipped Lifters. Thus, it will make for a larger Powerlifting Division, and Greater Head-to-Head Competition. Again, THIS WILL NOT AFFECT IN ANY WAY WHERE YOUR STATE AND AMERICAN RECORDS ARE SET.
