A year ago Jim Ray was banned from lifting in any NASA Meets. That ban has now been made permanent.
Ray had previously been suspended from NASA on four seperate occasions, and reinstated after he promised to behave himself. His unsportsmanlike conduct and creation of dissent in the Sport had mostly been confined to internet and eMail encounters.
At the 2008 Chippewa Classic last January, however, his behavior manifested itself publicly, when he followed a Lifter out of the Rules Meeting, and stalked him half way across the facilty, persecuting the Lifter for several minutes. When the NASA Leadership learned that his behavior had graduated from internet troublemaking, to public encounters, Jim Ray was again banned from NASA.
About 2 years ago, Joe Dentice, who is still an AAU and USPF Official, was banned from NASA and was stripped of his National Athlete of the Year designation, when it was discovered that he had molested 2 of our Youth Lifters in the hotel swimming pool at one of our National Meets. The 2 Youth Lifters, from 2 different States, were interviewed by the District Attornies Offices in those seperate States, and despite being more than 1,000 miles apart during their interviews, the testimony of the 2 Youth Lifters matched.
Most recently, Jim Ray has repeatedly defended the child molestor, openly on the internet, and even tried to get me fired from my employer because of my strong position against the child molestor.
We find it unsettling that Ray is so defensive of a child molestor, and we feel that we need to protect our Youth Lifters from Jim Ray himself. Therefore, his ban is not expiring after 1 year, but rather, is being made a permanent ban from NASA.
