This is the Official Letter and Point System that ALL Executive Members MUST use to determine their Nominee's for each Division in each Event and to decide their awarding of points. This system is used to Nominate lifters for their Divisions and to determine the Top 3 lifters in each Division. Once the Members vote for their Top 3 lifters in each division, each lifter is awarded points for 1st-3rd. If the lifter does not receive a vote from a member the lifter will receive a "0" from that voter. In each Division, the Total "Placing Points" are totaled and the highest Total wins that Division. In the over all voting in each division, a 1st place vote receives 3 points, 2nd is 2 points and 3rd is 1 point. A non-vote by each executive committee member receives a zero. All Division winners are forwarded to the Finals where the committee of Rich Peters, Tad Peters, Greg Van Hoose and 1 other selected NASA Member makes the final selections which will be based largely on over-all voting by the entire executive committee and the lifter's over all NASA background, drug testing information and NASA history collected by the Finals Committee. Over-all winners in the Powerlifting and Power Sports Only divisions are eligible for NASA's Over-All Athlete of the Year Award.
This process will test your ability to judge fairly and your ability to be totally unbiased. The worst thing you can do is to vote for a lifter simply because he/she is a friend or a favorite.
No lifter can be voted on in more than 1 Division by a member of the committee although they may be nominated in more than one. This is true for Men and Women.
No Committee member may vote in a division where a spouse, relative or teammate is a nominee. The Executive Member MUST abstain from voting in that particular division.
The criteria that should be used for selecting Nominee's for each Division and for deciding Votes is the following. Please do your research because it will show the rest of the committee how much work you do on this all important award and also if you are knowledgeable and totally unbiased:
* Number of NASA National Meets that the lifter entered in '06? (2 pt. per National meet 8 maximum)
* Is the Lifter an Honest, Trustworthy, Open & Forthright Individual? (+/- 1-5 points)
* Lifting Ability, Quality of Lifting and Ranking in the Top 100 Lists? (1-20 pts based on ranking)
* Is he/she a Meet Director? (5 points)
* Is he/she a State Records Chairman? (5 points)
* Does he/she maintain a NASA Website entirely on their own? (+5 points)
* Is he/she a NASA Referee? (5 points)
* Is the lifter a Team Coach of a regular, competitive NASA team? (+5 points)
* Does the Lifter play an active part in NASA and NASA events in his/her area? (1- 5 points)
* Was the Nominee drug tested in the past year? (+/- 5 points)
* Was he/she on a NASA National Team (5 points each team)
* Does the lifter assist the meet director at NASA meets (1-5 pts)
* Does the lifter assist other lifters at the meets (1-3 points)
* Does the lifter put NASA lifting above his/her own lifting (1-5 pts)
* Is the lifter a good representative of NASA Principles? (+/-5 pts)
* Has the lifter been active in NASA for the past 3-5 years? (1-5 points)
* Has the lifter been active in NASA 5-10 years? (5-10 points)
* Does the lifter compete in NASA Meets Only, Loyal? (+5 or -5 points)
* Was the Nominee a finalist in 2005? (5 points)
* Did the lifter compete in his /her respective National Age Group Championship? (+/- 10 points)
* Was the Nominee a Class Winner in 2005? (5 points)
Good Luck and PLEASE make sure you use the criteria listed ONLY.
