I've reserved the Doherty Hotel for the last weekend in September: September 24-26. I know that's technically a week early, but they have a regular group in during that first weekend in October.
I have two possible themes in mind. LMK what you think:
1. The infamous Purple Gang used to hang out in the Grill Room of the Doherty Hotel in the late 20s thru late 30s. They murdered a prominent Clare businessman there in 1938, which was quite exciting for that little midMichigan town. How about a gangster theme? Anyone know where I could get some miniature violin cases? There is a reinactment play floating around somewhere that we might use as a jumping off place for our activities: murder, mayhem, prohibition rum-running, safe-cracking, etc.
OR
2. Wee Forest Rodentaissance Festival. Kings, queens, serfs, turkey legs, javelins, and joisting competitions all set against a backdrop of lush wealth and debauchery.
