My WFF are easy to clean because I keep them all in Beanie Baby boxes, thanks to a tip from Pam Parsons at the very first Mouse Expo I attended back in 1998. I was momentarily aghast, then mightily impressed when she turned the box over and none of the mice crashed: They were fastened with QuakeHold. I decide that was the way to go.
Not only do I keep my WFF in boxes, but the boxes are stackable, so when I need to dust, I just pull out an entire stack, dust off the top of the top box, then dust off the shelf, put the boxes back in, and they all fit (how about that! :-)
I have a few other collectibles in the same curio that are not in boxes, and they are a pain to dust, just as nancevan related in her post: Take out each one, carefully dust, dust the shelf, then try to put everything back in (good luck!)
I realized that part of the reason dust got into the curio was because there was an air gap all the way around the (wooden) door, so I got some foam weatherstripping tape from my local hardware store and put a strip all the way around the door. You only see the foam tape when the door is open, and now a lot less dust can enter. You may not be able to do this if your curio is all glass.
One of these days I'll get around to marking each box with a unique identifier; then I'll be able to locate any WFF in my collection without having to hunt (and hunt and hunt...) If I'm smart, I'll use ordered pairs in a Cartesian coordinate system to id the boxes...but then that would be too easy.
