Car trouble

Only on soaps would a woman have sex with another man to save her marriage. CS says "David has asked Amanda to have another baby with him. He says Jake and Amanda will be free if she gives him one more child." There are a few wrinkles in this plan. First of all, it has never been established that Amanda's baby is David's and not Jake's. Second, David has never been a man of his word-and he won't be this week, either. CS says "They go to get in-vitro fertilization. David fixes it so that they run out of gas. They're stuck in the middle of nowhere, on purpose." Amanda storms out of the car to walk to the clinic, but sprains her ankle and has to return. CS says "She realizes that if it doesn't happen now she has to wait another month. They're stuck in the middle of nowhere, so she starts to think maybe it would just be better to get it over with. Maybe it might be better if they did it the old-fashioned way." So sweet Amanda agrees to have sex in a car with the evil Dr. David Hayward. CS says "There's nothing hot or sexy about it. Amanda definitely could have used a couple of shots of vodka; she says things like, 'Don't talk to me. Make it fast.' She's crying. It's icky. That's the least horrible word I can use." Since Jake and Amanda are one of AMC's most popular couples, this will not be viewers' favorite plot twist. CS says "Obviously, this makes my character the most hated one on the face of the planet. It won't make the David and Amanda fans happy because it's gross, and it certainly won't make Jake and Amanda fans happy. She won't even feel worthy of Jake to touch her after this. But hopefully they can work through it." Indeed, Jake and Amanda will try to do just that in the weeks to come. CS says "They go a few rounds over this, but in the end, they decide maybe this is a way to get out from under David and all of his threats. Maybe after nine months, they can be a happy family." If Amanda is even pregnant. CS says "Not everybody gets pregnant in the backseat. There's a reason most people give this up in high school. I still have a mark on my hip from the seat belt."
