Amanda Has Sex With David!
There is a picture of Amanda (Who looks like she's into it) getting ready to mount David in the car.
Amanda and David try to make a baby the old fashioned way this week-because Amanda is desperate to save her marriage to Jake. CS says "I was devastated when I read that I had to do this. They were the hardest scenes I've ever done, because they were so hard to play. You always want to feel like you know you character and you know why they make their choices, even if they're wrong. But this one was tough." At the start of the week, David and Amanda make plans for her to conceive a second child with him via in vitro fertilization. CS says "She's mad at David, mad at the whole situation. The in vitro fertilization might not even take; there are no guarantees. And he's planting the seed in her head of, 'Yeah, it could very well take a long time. In vitro statistics suggest that it probably won't take the first time." The possibility takes a psychological toll on Amanda, who wants to get the pregnancy over with so that, per her arrangement with Hayward, she can secure joint custody of Trevor and the sibling to be and resume her married life with Jake. But on route to the clinic, the duo's car runs out of gas, thanks, of course, to David's manipulations. CS says "Little does Amanda know, but he planned this, for them to run out of gas. He never had any intention of them getting to the fertility clinic. And at that point, she believes everything is riding on this right then and there: She must get pregnant, it's going to happen, and she and Jake are going to be happy. So when it goes wrong, and she sees that it may not happen, that's when she freaks out." Not surprisingly, David seizes the opportunity to bend Amanda to his will. CS says "He's being a jerk, as always. He's like, 'Do you hear that? Tick, tock, tick, tock. That's the sound of your ovulation clock running out.' Obviously, that's not the thing to say to her! But instead of yelling at him like, 'is that supposed to be funny?', I played it that she's so upset, she is so emotionally fragile, she is so, like, 'Everything is ruined!' that she starts breaking down. I felt like that was the only way to go with the scenes. She basically believes. 'This was our shot. This was our only shot!' She's crying and very distraught and that's when he sees his 'in.' CS says "He says, 'Well, technically, that's not the only way you can get pregnant, you know?' That's what plants the seed. It was tough, because I wasn't given a lot of dialogue with the transition where she decides to go ahead and do it. It's pretty blunt. I tried to soften it a little bit., and I hope that it will come across that she's at a breaking point and, at the time, feels trapped and truly wants this over with. As strange as it sounds, she feels like if she sleeps with David, she can be with Jake. So they have sex in the car, high-school style." In the aftermath, CS says "David promises her that Jake will never find out. But I don't know if Amanda's conscience will let her stay silent."
