David's family could be huge in agribusiness/energy industry banking also, which is why he may indeed have had good contacts to replace Nikki's CS loan from Victor. His keen interest in politics and cultural polish could easily have sprung from this background. I'm wanting his background to be true, even if David was really off under the influence of gambling fever, because it can generate much future story!
