I haven’t seen anyone get creative with a pillow block type bearing yet. With a little time and tinkering it may be possible.
I actually called the Opel Source tech line yesterday. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and it seems like the 1.1L bushing they sell is fairly close. He measured one they had on the shelf and I compared that to a spare torque tube assembly I have. Not the best comparison, but enough for me to want to try one. I should have one at the house next week. He said he had had people in the past order both size bushings for Chevettes, but he has never gotten feedback from anyone if they work. I’m going to make it a point to let him know if the one I ordered fits so they have that knowledge as well.
I’ve never tried to take one of the bushings out before so I’m not sure what to expect. It looks like it might just squeeze in and kind of pop into place. If that’s true you may be able to rotate it.
