****** Warning!! unsubstantiated internet ramblings ***********
I really would like to find a later rwd turbo one for parts as they have a 4 link rear suspension instead of the torque tube. Since the Impulse platform was a licensed version of the "T" platform from GM, I'm guessing that the lower control arms are in the same locations. If the upper control arm mounts could be transferred to a Chevette tub, you could have a really interesting rear diff solution. The Impulse rear axle has bigger tubes and axles, disk brakes, and limited slip. Would this axle hold up to a 300+ hp monster torque V8 swap? No, probably not. But for a 2-250 hp turbo 4 cylinder build? I think it would have some potential. I would really like to do a build with this and turbo-charged Chevette engine like Rob has done, especially if I could keep it ‘factory’ looking. I think it would be a riot.
Did you get a look at the rear of the car you got the brakes from? Was it a 4-link rear and did it give you bad ideas?
