Chevette does not share a filament between brake and directional ckts as do many cars.
The brake switch is wired to the fat filament in the outer tail lamps with the red lens (1157 bulb), the skinny filament in the outer tail lamps is energized by headlight sw for tail lights.
The directional signals energize the middle tail lamp with the orange lens.
Many, many, cars share the fat filament in an 1157 bulb between brake and directional signals, but not Chevette.
That said:
Brake power is fed thru a 20A fuse to the brake sw on circuit 140 (14 ga orn).
Then from brake sw to pin J of the chevrolet / fisher interface connector on circuit 20 (16 ga red)
The Fisher harness is an aluminum solid core flat pack.
At the other end of the fisher harness, ckt 20 is pin C. Circuit 20 in the mating connector is an 18 ga red wire, which splits to the two tail/stop lamps.
The above from the Chevette wiring diagram.
