this. on a non computer controlled chevette where does the vacuum advance on the distributor port to? I'm thinking directly into the manifold vacuum line? or is it the carburetor and if so which port. and what is the timing on a non computer chevette? 12 degrees before dead top?
reason I'm askin is I have an 81 chevette but picked up a carb and distributer for an 80 which is non computer. my car will not get up to operating temp. in this cold weather and the computer is not going into closed loop mode. I know this as I rigged a lite that goes out when it hits closed loop mode. been workin fine all year till now. I am tired of dealing with it so I'm gonna stick the non computer carb and dist. on it and not use the computer. did it once before 20 years ago to an 81 and it ran great.
also what temp thermostat should I be using. autozone told me they stock a 180 and a 192 degree. maybe if I put in a 192 it would help engine get to operating temp. last week it took an hour driving on the freeway before it went into closed loop.
any info appreciated.
