Re: Putting AC in a diesel 'Vette. Who has done it?
Im doing exactly this now in my '85 CS gas. The Vintage Air Slimline evaporator fits nicely under the dash and easily hoses fit through existing holes in the firewall. My major problem has been to get a double groove crank pulley to run the V belt off of, right now I just have it running off the double groove water pump pulley. I also just use the factory GM four seasons compressor (rebuilt, $75 on ebay) and the original brackets that came off a chevette that had factory air option. To run the GM compressor, I went to a junk yard to get the suction and pressure hoses off an '83 Buick Lesabre which the fitting matches perfectly. Turns out its a lot of work, not the best time to do it at the beginning of July when its hottest, but im putting the sweat in pressing to get it done!
