What makes me crazy about this noise is the simplicity of the rear suspension. Basically held to the car by the springs and the shocks, so I am loathe to know what would be clunking and turning the ride so rough I am thinking the rear hatch window will blow out.
I know its not a new Honda, but I need to locate the clunk, and the thunk and cannot think of anything to check. I am kind of bad off physically so I tend to need a goal and destination for those times when I have to climb under.
Noise diagnosis via text is a billion dollar shot in the dark, but I am hoping enough of you have had your vettes long enough that maybe you came across something I should be looking at. Whatever it is feels like the axle is bottoming out and it really jars the whole car. My DVD player is useless when the road is all bumps, and aren't most roads anymore? :-)
I just toss it out there in hopes it will land someplace useful and would appreciate any thoughts. I don't want sympathy, but my stroke really wiped out my body and worst, my hands, and the only reason my baby vette which I bought new in 84 has lived this long is my ability to take care of her. It has NEVER been in any kind of repair facility, but now I am not much for keeping up so I just ask not for special consideration, but in hopes someone has " been there, done that" so I can focus on a fix, and not too much up, down, under and stress trying to figure out what is making such a noise. I would be grateful for any kind of a plan of attack.
Always grateful for any ideas of suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
john
