The thermo fan clutch allows the fan to spin freely when not needed. When hot air passes through the radiator core and hits the clutch, it tightens to pull more air through the radiator and keep the engine cool. The clutch saves fuel and allows a little more HP. I have been using these clutches and the a/c radiators for years to save on overheat conditions.
