My owner's manual indicates to use spark plug "AC" type R43TS (or equivalent).
I know that in the early 90's, the industry did away with lettering and went to all numbers to ID spark plugs, but as we all know our Chevettes are from a time before that standard.
Anyway, my question refers to the heat range. I already know that R stands for "resistor", TS for "tapered seat w/ extended tip", and the number 4 indicates 14mm treads. Am I asking for trouble using a "2" heat range when the factory called for a "3"? Or am I splitting hairs here?
I have a whole box of AC Delco R42TS purchased years back and now want to know if they're close enough.
Thanks for any insight!
