HELLO ALL!!
i know we all wish our chevettes had better brakes, mabye even (dare i say) 4-wheel disks.
well after many months of salvage yard scrounging, fabricating, machining, and pounding my head, i think i might have found a (almost) perfect match. while getting parts for my sons 92 saturn, i noticed that the 95 saturn next to me had rear disk brakes and they use the same wheel pattern as the vette (4x100) so i took off the rotors and calipers ($40) and ran off to the shop. i set them up on a old rear that i had, the rotor sliped on and put on the calipers, and lo and behold it almost lines up with the drum mounting bracket, (about.050-.080 off) it will be very easy to make a bracket to mount this up. i did try a stock vette rim, didn't fit(depressed
but my 13" aero rims fit no problem
it will be a few weeks before i can get everything done, but i will keep everyone posted on the progress, now if i can just figure out my camera
have a great weekend and drive safe!!!
LAZ p.s. i am also working on re-making the front rotors using .810 thick rotors, that is close to being done also, LAZ
